Your support has a national reach and impact on women and youth. BSLS Membership consists primarily of BIPOC young women. 

 

Statistical research shows:

  • "African American youth between the ages of 5-17 are 18.3% of the black population (41,393,491).

  • Social and educational inequities have been systemic issues due to high rates of poverty. 36% of Black youth live in poverty.

  • More than 75% of Black children born between 1985 and 2000 grew up in “high disadvantage” neighborhoods."

Membership Options

Little

Little sisters are members who haven't yet completed BSLS Council and BSLS Sister to Sister Academy. You must be an active member at an official BSLS Chapter to become a Little. Littles are also elgible to be matched with a professional mentor through BSLS PMP Program.

Big

Big sisters are members who have completed BSLS Council and BSLS Sister to Sister Academy.New members whom are juniors and seniors are eligible to be Bigs, but still must complete appropriate programs. Bigs are also elgible to be matched with a professional mentor through BSLS PMP Program.

Professional

Professional mentors are women who are working professionals and entrepreneurs who mentor our active BSLS Members through our BSLS PMP program sponsored by Chronus. Professional mentors are mathched with a mentee that is a member of BSLS active chapters.
